Bathurst Reception Centre → Greta Migrant Camp
The first large transfers from Bathurst reached Greta in early June 1949. Greta was a reception and holding centre in the Hunter Valley with two distinctive sections, Chocolate City with brown weatherboard buildings and Silver City with corrugated-iron huts. June brought transfers from another Australian reception centre, while August brought arrivals directly through Newcastle.
