The Skaugum, Bremerhaven to Fremantle, July 1950

The Skaugum left Bremerhaven in June 1950 and landed 1,823 people in Western Australia; the Western Australian landing table gives 12 July and the passenger roll 14 July. Of the 618 entries carrying a nationality on the transcribed roll, 184 are recorded as Polish, 126 as Hungarian and 38 as Ukrainian. Nationality here is the category the resettlement authorities recorded, and many Ukrainians from Galicia and Volhynia were registered as Polish.
