The Samaria's first displaced-persons crossing, Cuxhaven to Halifax, 1948

Cuxhaven → Pier 21, Halifax

The Cunarder Samaria had carried more than 20,000 servicemen as a requisitioned troopship before she was put on the displaced-persons run. She left Cuxhaven on 18 September 1948 on the first crossing of that service and reached Halifax on 28 September with 1,614 passengers. A second recorded arrival followed on 31 October with 1,581.
