The Fairsea passengers to Greta, August 1949

On 19 August 1949 Fairsea passengers disembarked at Newcastle and continued to Greta by train; the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations records 1,096 people in that group. A mixed Ukrainian choir appeared at Greta that month, organised by Roman Hrobelko during the voyage to Australia. Volodymyr Yankivskyi and Leonid Medvediv later conducted choirs at the camp.
