The Kanimbla from Fremantle to Princes Pier, December 1947

The passengers of the first transport spent four days ashore in Western Australia while their baggage went to Perth for customs examination and was claimed at the Graylands camp. HMAS Kanimbla then carried them on from Fremantle on 2 December 1947, and on 7 December the first selected group of 837 Latvians, Lithuanians and Estonians landed at Princes Pier in Melbourne and travelled on by train to Bonegilla.
