Genoa → Argentina

Argentina set up the CREI and the DAIE under the presidency late in 1946 and gave the delegation only two seats in Europe, at Rome and Madrid. Deputies questioned the powers of selection it had been given, and the first embarkation recruited by the delegation sailed from Genoa on 4 June 1947. By 30 June 1948 the IRO recorded 26,968 displaced persons admitted by Argentina, more than any other Latin American country.
