Leaving Godenau for Braunschweig, Hamburg and overseas, 1951 to 1952

Leaving Godenau did not always mean travelling directly overseas. Father Stangret moved to the Ukrainian camp at Braunschweig, which he had also served while at Godenau, and emigrated to Canada in 1951. Tetiana Dushenko and her family passed through further camps, including Hamburg, before reaching the United States in 1952 and settling in Buffalo.
