The Marine Falcon was built by the Kaiser company in 1944 as a C4-S-A3 transport of 12,420 gross tons and did trooping and repatriation work, including UNRRA repatriation service, before the displaced-persons voyages of 1948. Her first recorded Halifax arrival was on 28 March 1948 with 431 passengers, on an itinerary running from Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Bremen by way of Antwerp, Le Havre, Southampton, Plymouth and Cobh.
