Lexenfeld displaced-persons camp, Austria → Taber, Alberta
One family left the Lexenfeld displaced-persons camp in Austria after three years there and sailed from Bremerhaven aboard the Marine Falcon, reaching Pier 21 on 23 June 1948. Their account describes a quick passage through customs followed by a Canadian Pacific train journey to Taber, Alberta. A sponsoring sugar-beet farmer met them at the station and took them to a converted grain bin used as their first home.
