A resident's memoir follows one household out of Germany. Its author reached Munich on the second day after Christmas 1945 and lodged in the half-ruined barracks of a former Polish camp on Hannoverstraße before being admitted to Laim in June 1946. By the end of November 1949 he was in the Warner-Kaserne emigration barracks, and after a medical commission and a consular interview he landed in the United States on 4 May 1950.
