Luitpold-Kaserne to Rothschwaige, February 1949

Luitpold-Kaserne, Munich → Rothschwaige transit camp, near Dachau

A local study reports that the Luitpoldkaserne camp was dissolved in February 1949 and that 457 displaced people from 18 European countries were transferred to the Rothschwaige transit camp near Dachau. Other records place closure later and show people still living at the barracks in October 1950, so the residential camp was probably wound up in stages while the transit and control function continued.
