The Anna Salen leaves Naples
Naples
Naples → Northam, Western Australia
The Anna Salen left Naples on 1 December 1949, broke down beyond Aden and transferred her passengers to the Skaugum, which landed them at Fremantle on 6 January 1950. The Skaugum carried 1,570 people and 1,543 were landed in Western Australia and sent by train to Northam. Of the 553 entries with a nationality on the transcribed roll, 256 are recorded as Polish and 52 as Ukrainian; many Ukrainians from Galicia and Volhynia were registered as Polish, so the Ukrainian figure understates them.
