Anna Chlebnikowski was born at Monaczyn and her husband Nicholai at Ternopil. They landed at Port Melbourne on 31 May 1949 from the Skaugum with two small sons, Anna's father Wasil and her uncle Peter. Nicholai was sent to tank maintenance at Puckapunyal while his wife and children went first to the holding centre at Cowra and then, on 20 October 1949, to Benalla, where they stayed until February 1951.
