A church-school inside the camp, 1954. The Catholic Weekly reported the opening of a residence for the permanent chaplain at Chullora migrant hostel, built by the Society of St Vincent de Paul on land made available by the Commissioner for Railways; the society had already put up the St Frances Cabrini Church-School at the hostel, where Mass was said each Sunday and 115 migrant children were taught daily by the Daughters of Charity.
